[Men's Basketball] Lourdes hires Hopson to lead men's basketball program
SYLVANIA, Ohio - Toledo native Dennis Hopson has been hired to lead the Lourdes men's basketball program. Hopson brings a wealth of experience to the Gray Wolves. The former NBA player spent time playing with the New Jersey Nets, Sacramento Kings, and won a NBA Championship with the Chicago Bulls before playing seven seasons in Europe. His collegiate coaching career had stops at Northwood University (Fla.) and Bowling Green State University.
Hopson was a standout player at The Ohio State University, where he was an All-American and the Big Ten Player of the Year in 1987. He is the Buckeyes' all-time leading scorer, tallying 2,096 points during his four-year career. He also holds the school's single season scoring record with 958 points in 1986-1987, a season in which he finished second nationally in scoring.
Hopson received his Bachelor of Education in sports and leisure studies from The Ohio State University was named to the John Wooden Award All-American Team and was named a First Team All-Big Ten selection in 1987. He is a member of the Ohio State Hall of Fame Class of 1994
