[Women's Basketball] Women's Basketball has five named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes
Kansas Wesleyan women's basketball had five student-athletes named as 2019 Daktronics-NAIA Division II Women's Basketball Scholar-Athletes as the National Office announced the award recipients.
Courtney Heinen (JR/Axtell, Kan.), Valerie Most (SR/Brady, Neb.), Kayla Kivinski (SR/Port Richey, Fla.), Kayla Vallin (JR/Aurora, Colo.) and Sydney Mortensen (SR/Wichita, Kan.) all were named as Scholar-Athletes.
Heinen is a junior majoring in Elementary Education.
Most is a senior majoring in Biomedical Chemistry
Kivinski is a senior majoring in Psychology.
Vallin is a junior majoring in Elementary Education.
Mortensen is a senior majoring in Psychology.
Nationally, 312 women's basketball student-athletes were named 2019 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. Concordia (Neb.) and Mount Marty (S.D.) led the pack with nine student-athletes collecting the honors on each team.
In order to be named as a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete, student-athletes must have at least a 3.5 GPA as defined by the institution, be of junior academic status and have attended the current institution for at least one full academic year as a transfer or two full academic years as a non-transfer.
