Kevon Looney is day-to-day with a pelvic strain

0 12

The Warriors young big may miss a few games.

Kevon Looney didn’t play in Saturday’s game between the Golden State Warriors and Philadelphia 76ers due to pelvic soreness. And after returning to Oakland on Sunday, the fourth-year big had an MRI that revealed a strain. Looney is listed as day-to-day.

While it’s unlikely that Looney will be out for very long, it would seem likely that he’ll miss a handful of games. That will make the Warriors already-thin frontcourt depth even thinner, as they’ll essentially be down to DeMarcus Cousins and Jordan Bell at the center position. But then again, the Andrew Bogut reinforcements appear to be coming!

Looney is having a strong season, and has emerged as the Warriors best defensive center, especially in the pick and roll. He’s averaging career-high marks across the board, with 19.9 minutes, 6.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.8 blocks, and 0.6 steals per game.

The Warriors will surely count on him to play big minutes in the postseason, just as he did a year ago.
