[Men's Basketball] Men's and women's basketball to compete in AAC tourney
MONTREAT, N.C. – Montreat men's and women's basketball are set to compete in the 2019 Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament beginning Thursday, Feb. 21. The tournament runs through Saturday at the MeadowView Marriott Conference Resort & Convention Center in Kingsport, Tenn.
Each tournament is single-elimination featuring the conference's top-eight men's and women's teams.
The men enter the tournament as the No. 2 seed with a 17-5 league record to take on No. 7 seed Columbia International (10-12 AAC) in the opening round. The Cavs split their regular-season meetings with the Rams, dropping the first meeting 97-86 at home before take the second meeting 75-68 on the road. Tip-off is at 7:30 Thursday evening.
The No. 8 seeded women's squad (12-14 AAC) will open up against No. 1 Bryan (26-0 AAC) Thursday morning at 10:15. The Lions took both games in the regular season, but the Lady Cavs gave Bryan a scare in the squads' second meeting, allowing the top team in the conference a win by just four points.
