UAlbany women stage late rally but can't overcome first-place Maine

Even in defeat, the University at Albany women's basketball team may have made a statement Saturday against America East Conference frontrunner Maine.
The Great Danes, who had won seven of eight games since an 11-point loss Jan. 12 in Bangor, rallied from a 17-point deficit to close within four of the Black Bears but couldn't close the deal in a 67-61 loss at SEFCU Arena.
"We can beat any team in this conference," point guard Kyara Frames said after her 23-point effort. "Even though the game didn't go our way, I'm still confident in this team. I'm not going to hang my head over this game.
