[Women's Basketball] @WAULADYSHOCK SET TO PARTICIPATE IN THE A.I.I. ...

Takoma Park, MD- The Washington Adventist University women's basketball team for the second year in a row will have an opportunity to compete for a conference championship. The Shock currently sits 19-9 and are on pace to make history again with the best record in program history. Head Coach Jered Lyons stated "I've learned from some incredible coaches that post-season play is all about fighting to play one more contest with your family. We are looking forward to preparing and representing WAU. We believe in what we can do and we're excited to showcase it to the conference." 

Two nationally ranked teams are among the eight squads competing in the 2019 Association of Independent Institutions' Women's Basketball Championship Tournament Feb. 22-24 at Lincoln Christian University in Lincoln, Ill. College of the Ozarks (Mo.) is the top seed after being ranked sixth nationally among NAIA Division II teams. The Bobcats have a 24-3 record so far during the regular season. Indiana University Northwest, ranked No. 23 nationally, is the No. 2 seed with a 23-6 record and Haskell Indian Nations University (Kan.) received the No. 3 seed at 19-8 this season. Fisher College (Mass.), 18-10, rounds out the top half of the tournament seeds. Wilberforce University (Ohio) is the No. 5 seed with a 12-9 record, while No. 6 seed Voorhees College (S.C.) stands 15-12 on the season. Washington Adventist University (Md.) earned the No. 7 seed with a 16-9 record, while tournament host and No. 8 seed Lincoln Christian rounds out the tournament field with an 11-14 record.
