Even near first place, Siena basketball all about the process
Siena (13-12 overall, 8-4 MAAC) has won four games in a row, matching its longest winning streak since 2010. The Saints have seven victories in their last eight heading into Wednesday night's game against three-time defending champion Iona (8-15, 6-6) to start a four-game homestand.
Counting his final two seasons at Mount St. Mary's, Christian is 28-10 after Jan. 15 the past three years. Given how his teams improve as the season goes on, it seems ironic that Christian doesn't emphasize winning and losing.
Degnan said it's a different philosophy than his past coaches.
"This time of year, a lot of people talk about wins and losses,'' Degnan said. "But Coach has been very direct on the things he focuses on. It's being the best we can be. It's been great for us. The guys have really bought into that saying and we're just excited (to get) on to our next game."
