Ionescu, No. 3 Oregon buries No. 11 Stanford by 40 — that’s not a misprint
Stanford was hoping to knock off a top-10 team for the fourth time this year on Sunday. Instead, the Cardinal were taken to school.
Sabrina Ionescu staged her own personal basketball clinic. The former Miramonte-Orinda star compiled 27 points, nine rebounds and eight assists as No. 3 Oregon crushed the Cardinal 88-48 before a stunned crowd of 5,250 at Maples Pavilion.
It was one of the worst losses for Stanford in Tara VanDerveer’s 33 years as head coach.
In snapping Stanford’s 22-game home winning streak with a vengeance, the Ducks had too much for the Cardinal in every department and won their 16th straight game, the longest active streak in the country.
