MADISON, S.D. (Jan. 9, 2019)—The Dakota State University (S.D.) Trojan men's basketball team (6-13 overall record, 1-2 NSAA conference record) plays their first North Star Athletic Association conference contests on the road this weekend. The Trojans make their first stop in Valley City, N.D. Friday evening to take on Valley City State (N.D.) (4-10, 1-2 NSAA). Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at W.E. Osmon Fieldhouse (101 College St. SE).
On Saturday, DSU travels to the Lewy Lee Fieldhouse to take on Mayville State (N.D.) (10-4, 2-1 NSAA conference record). The game is scheduled for 5 p.m. in Mayville, N.D. (330 3rd Street NE).
Dakota State split a pair of North Star conference games last weekend at DSU Fieldhouse. The Trojans fell to Presentation (S.D.) 85-77, despite holding the largest lead of the game in the first-half on Jan. 4. DSU earned their first North Star conference win after defeating Dickinson State (N.D.) 71-62 on Jan. 5.
Valley City State and Mayville State split their North Star conference road games last weekend. The Vikings fell to Waldorf (Iowa) 79-73 on Jan. 4, but bounced back in the winning column with a 69-55 victory at Viterbo (Wis.) on Jan. 5. The Comets lost to the V-Hawks 79-63 on Jan. 4 and earned da 73-70 thriller over the Warriors on Jan. 5. MSU rolled past Trinity Bible (N.D.) 113-28 in a non-conference home game on Jan. 8.
Next Up: Dakota State comes back home next weekend for another North Star Athletic Association conference games. The Trojans host Waldorf (Iowa) on Friday, Jan. 18 and Viterbo (Wis.) on Saturday, Jan. 19.
