Trevecca opened the game on a 6-2 run with baskets from Adi Hale and Brittin Boyer … Shorter tied the game at 6-6, and the score held until the end of the quarter … the low-scoring first quarter witnessed a combined 20 missed jump shots … Shorter doubled up Trevecca with consecutive 3-pointers to open the second quarter at 12-6 … the Trojans remained with six points of the Hawks at 22-16, but Shorter hit a 3-pointer before the end of the half to lead 25-16 at the break … the Hawks opened the second half on an 8-2 run to jump ahead 33-18 … with under two minutes to play in the third quarter the Trojans got back within 12 points at 40-28 … with 6:05 remaining in the game and Shorter leading by 14 (46-32) the Trojans outscored the hosts 19-5 to send the game to overtime … in all the Trojans outscored the Hawks 23-9 in the fourth quarter to force overtime … the Trojans cut to within three (48-45) after an 8-2 run led by Callie Hackett … Adi Hale's 3-pointer with 28 seconds remaining tied the game at 51-51 … the Trojans remained ahead for much of the extra period until the Hawks jumped ahead with just under two minutes to play, 61-59 … Shorter led 65-61 before Adi Hale got fouled on a 3-pointer to bring the Trojans within one, 65-64 … Hale missed the free-throw attempt, and the Hawks held on to win 65-64 in overtime.
