Siena basketball's Kevin Degnan gets a fresh start

0 15

Siena's Kevin Degnan prefers not to dwell on the train wreck that was the 2017-18 season.

Really, who can blame him? Degnan barely got on the court, even for a team that stunk. He played a total of 89 minutes and scored just 26 points as the Saints collapsed to an 8-24 record.

Given the chance before Tuesday's practice, Degnan declined to speculate on what went wrong for him under former head coach Jimmy Patsos.

"I'm not really looking at that right now,'' Degnan said. "I'm just honestly looking forward and doing everything I can to help this team win."

Lately, he's done quite a bit. It's fair to say none of the returning players has benefited from the coaching change to Jamion Christian more than Degnan, a 6-foot-9, 220-pound redshirt senior forward.

He made five 3-pointers and scored a career-high 15 points in the 69-61 victory at George Washington on Nov. 8 that gave Christian his first win with the Saints.
