The Week 3 college football Fun Blog

0 22

We’ll be adding stuff of note and weirdness all Saturday long.

Week 3’s Saturday is underway, and below, we’ll keep track of the oddest, most surprising, and wildest stuff that happens.

College football’s Super Bowl, Rutgers-Kansas, had some glorious moments, such as ...

... and ...

... but ended with Kansas getting its most dominant win over an FBS team of the entire 2010s so far.

Troy got its second Power 5 win of the last two years, beating Nebraska.

The Huskers fell to 0-2 for the first time since 1957.

FSU once again failed to #DoSomething.

The Noles got embarrassed by Syracuse, and this hashtag just kept looking worse and worse.

Also:

Temple whapped Maryland, meaning this is true:

And that means the Big Ten’s three newest additions lost two upsets to non-powers AND lost to Kansas.

We might have an early Piesman Trophy favorite in UAB’s 285-pound Garrett Marino.

Also:

On Thursday night, FCS Davidson beat Division III Guilford, 91-61.

The game appeared to set both of these records:

  • Most yards of offense in an FCS game by one team (964 for Davidson; record is 876 )
  • Most rushing yards by one team in an FCS game (685 for Davidson; record is 681)

And there were even more records that didn’t officially count, since Guilford is DIII:

  • Most points in an FCS game by both teams (152 in this game; FCS and DI record is 141)
  • Most yards of offense in an FCS game by both teams (1,662; FCS record is 1,549)
  • Most rushing yards in an FCS game by both teams (1,005; FCS record is 850)

And it’ll be hard to top this for WACKIEST play of the day:

We’ll be updating this post all Saturday long, so be sure to come back for more!
