The show is executive produced by SpringHill Entertainment, and Williams has a lead role.

LeBron James, Maverick Carter and former NBA star-turned-ESPN analyst, Jay Williams, have come together to form an eight-part docu-series titled, Best Shot. The first episode airs Wed., July 18 on the NBA’s YouTube channel.

SB Nation can show an exclusive clip of scenes from Episode 2 of the show. In this clip, a high school principal details how circumstances at home influences their decisions at school and in the streets.

BEST SHOT is a show executive produced by James and Carter’s entertainment and content company, SpringHill Entertainment, as well as Warner Bros. and Boardwalk Pictures. It charts Williams’ quest to mentor a group of high school basketball players, who are balancing basketball on the court with academics and practice off the court as they prepare for looming scholarship opportunities to play in college.

“We’re passionate about this story because it’s about real high school students encountering real life challenges. All they need is that little push in the right direction, and with a relatable mentor like Jay Williams guiding them, they’ve got a very real opportunity to change their lives forever,” said Carter in a press release. “This series is inspiring, it’s moving, and it’s real. It’s everything SpringHill Entertainment is all about.”

Episodes 1 and 2 will premiere on the NBA’s YouTube channel on July 18. Here is a look at the trailer for the series.

Williams was a star guard at Duke and was drafted by the Chicago Bulls No. 2 overall in the 2002 NBA Draft. But after playing 75 games in his rookie season, his career was derailed by a motorcycle accident in which he suffered career-ending injuries. After a few NBA comeback attempts, Williams became a college basketball analyst for CBS Sports and later ESPN. He has also become a motivational speaker and released a book, “Life Is Not an Accident: A Memoir of Reinvention,” in 2016.
