Draymond Green is a professional troll

Green poked LeBron in the eye, egged Tristan Thompson on and laughed at J.R. Smith. And that’s just Game 1.

Draymond Green is one of the most polarizing athletes in sports because he’s his true self and then some. Never afraid to let you know when he’s winning and ready to retaliate when he’s not, Green is everything sportsmanship hates. But his authenticity is undeniable.

Everything we know about Green was on full display in Game 1 of the NBA Finals as he was hit with a technical foul early, taunted Tristan Thompson into shoving him and then scoffed at J.R. Smith’s miserable blunder in a postgame press conference.

We’d call Green a troll but that isn’t what he is. He doesn’t just pester people for their response; he’s tactically spontaneous in doing precisely what he shouldn’t because he can. Green is an outlier, both on and off the court. An undersized player who can defend anyone, he’s also fearless to do and act however he pleases to anyone on Earth. He makes for brilliant television once the ball tips, and maybe even more so when time expires.

Let’s recap a bit.

Draymond definitely poked LeBron in the eye, then complains and gets T’d up

Here’s the first play Green argued on Thursday night, in which he poked LeBron James directly in the eye. His complaints to officials resulted in a technical foul.

Green complained about this call as James’ eye literally turned red.

There is literal evidence that Green did this, but he still fought it.

Draymond taunted Tristan Thompson into shoving a ball in his face

Green hit his true peak once the Warriors solidified an overtime lead that wouldn’t falter. Thompson was whistled quickly for a flagrant foul and ejected after throwing his elbow upwards towards Shaun Livington while contesting a shot. That was controversial.

Then Green got in his face, clapped his hands and egged Thompson into shoving a ball in his, which started a scuffle.

Classic freaking Draymond.

Draymond made fun of J.R. Smith’s attempt to explain his horrible mistake

Smith will live in infamy for catching an offensive rebound and dribbling out the clock on what could have been the game-winning shot because he thought the Cavs were winning. After the game, Smith pleaded that he knew the game was tied, but even his own coach said otherwise.

When that piece of information was given to Green at the press conference podium, a switch flipped and he hilariously tilted his head to the side in disbelief at what Smith was suggesting.
