Steph Curry to begin modified practice, will be reevaluated in one week

0

The two-time MVP is slowly but surely nearing a return to the court.

Stephen Curry is inching back towards the basketball court. The Golden State Warriors’ star had his knee evaluated this morning, and the diagnosis was good.

The injury update from the team reads like this: “Warriors guard Stephen Curry, who suffered a Grade 2 left MCL sprain on March 23 and has missed the team’s last 13 games, was examined earlier today by the team’s medical staff. The examination indicated that Stephen continues to make consistent functional progress since the injury and, as a result, he will begin to participate in modified team practices tomorrow and the intensity of his on-court rehabilitation will continue to increase. He will be re-evaluated again in one (1) week.”

Curry is returning to practice, albeit “modified” practice. Still, that is excellent news. And the fact that the team plans to reevaluate him next Friday, April 27, is pretty major news.

Yes, the Warriors will reevaluate Curry the day before the potential first game of the second round. The hope is surely that he will be back for that game (though if the Portland Trail Blazers wanted to extend the series to give Curry a bit more time, that would be great).

He’s almost back.
