Mountain West Tournament 2018: Bracket, schedule, scores, teams, and more
Las Vegas will host the tournament again in 2018.
The 2018 Mountain West Conference men’s basketball tournament begins Wednesday, March 7, with the championship game wrapping things up on March 10 at 3 p.m. The tournament will air all week from the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
The Stakes
The regular-season conference champion, Nevada, earned the No. 1 overall seed after going 15-3 in conference play. Last season, the Wolfpack beat Colorado State in the championship game to win the tournament, and went on to earn a No. 12 seed in the NCAA Tournament. In the 2018 conference tournament, Boise State earned the No. 2 seed, followed by No. 3 New Mexico, No. 4 Fresno State, No. 5 San Diego State, No. 6 Wyoming, No. 7 Utah State, No. 8 UNLV, and No. 9 Air Force.
The Format
The top five seeds in the tournament received byes into the quarterfinal round, with a 4-5 game locked in for that round. The bottom six seeds are divided into three first-round games, with the winners meeting the top three seeds in the quarters. Everything is single-elimination, leading up to a title game on Saturday.
