Auburn’s Anfernee McLemore carried off on stretcher with dislocated ankle
The Tigers’ top shot blocker suffered a gruesome ankle injury on Saturday.
Auburn fell to South Carolina, 84-75, on Saturday afternoon, but the loss is of little importance to the Tigers right now. Forward Anfernee McLemore suffered a dislocated ankle at the end of the first half and had to be carried off a stretcher.
The video of the injury is gruesome. If you want to watch it, you can find the video here.
McLemore averaged 7.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, but his impact went beyond those numbers. At 6’7 and 220 pounds, McLemore was the Tigers’ most reliable frontcourt player. Despite being undersized, he had become a fearsome rim protector as one of the nation’s top shot blockers.
His emergence has been a big reason why Auburn is currently ranked No. 10 in the AP Poll even after losing star center Austin Wiley to a suspension stemming from the FBI investigation into the program.
Auburn still leads the SEC with an 11-3 record. The Tigers were projected as a No. 1 seed before the weekend in our latest Bracketology update.
