Steph Curry and Kevin Durant voted All-Star starters

0

Curry will be captain at the All-Star Game, and Durant will be in LA with him.

It’s no surprise, but it is official: Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant are in the 2018 NBA All-Star Game. The Golden State Warriors superstars were announced as starters for the Western Conference, though it’s worth noting that the title is a misnomer. Instead, there will be two captains, who will get to pick their teams.

Oh yeah, and Curry is a captain, which means he’ll get half a say in who plays in the All-Star Game. He can choose Durant (and possibly Klay Thompson and Draymond Green), or he can also try and surround himself with rivals like LeBron James and Kyrie Irving. It’s going to be a lot of fun.

The starters were chosen by the fans (who got 50% of the vote), and the media and players (who each got 25% of the vote). The captains (Curry and James) were the leading fan votegetters for each conference.

Curry and Durant are joined in the West by James Harden, Anthony Davis, and DeMarcus Cousins. James is joined in the East by Irving, DeMar DeRozan, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Joel Embiid.

The reserves (voted by the coaches) will be revealed on January 23rd, and the rosters will be revealed on January 25th.

The game itself takes place on Sunday, February 18, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The three-point contest, which will likely have a Warrior or two, will take place the day before.

Congrats to Curry and Durant! Now let’s hope they’re joined by Thompson and Green...
