Coaching changes should give a Tarik Cohen a boost in 2018

0

The Bears rookie rusher should benefit greatly with Matt Nagy taking over in Chicago.

Tarik Cohen was a rookie to watch at the beginning of 2017. The fourth-round pick was on fire the first three games of the season. He had at least 13 touches and a pair of 100-yard games by Week 3. That hot streak did not last long, however. The Bears shifted away from the 119th overall pick as the season wore on. He split time with starting RB Jordan Howard and was on the field for just 36 percent of the Bears snaps in 2017. Cohen received double-digit touches in four more games after Week 3. He finished the season with 87 carries for 370 yards and two touchdowns and 53 catches for 358 yards and one receiving score.

Looking ahead to 2018

The Bears offense was in shambles last season. As a result, the team brought in former Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator, Matt Nagy, to be the new head coach. This move should be very helpful for Cohen next season. Nagy is more likely to find a way to have Cohen and Howard on the field at the same time. He also has experience working with players that have talents similar to Cohen. Cohen will see a lot more action in 2018.

Fantasy Slant

Cohen is going to be a hot fantasy commodity next season. He has the talent to make a big impact on the running and passing game with Nagy’s creativity. Cohen could start coming off draft boards as early as the 3rd or 4th round. He will definitely be gone in most leagues by the 8th round.
