LaVar Ball may force the Lakers to either trade Lonzo or fire Luke.
At some point, you are gonna have to choose one or the other.
LaVar Ball has more power in his statements than many people think and whatever he says, surely he can get a large number of supporters behind him. His recent comments on Luke Walton is no different either. Earlier this morning while in Lithuania with his two younger sons LiAngelo and LaMelo, LaVar took to reporters once again to berate the young Lakers coach.
"Nobody on the team wants to play for him anymore. I can see it. He's too young."
If you're an avid follower of the Lakers, you would know this isn't the first time LaVar has criticized Luke Walton. It became so apparent to the point where Magic Johnson had to step in and ask LaVar to tone it down. LaVar did tone it down but made it clear he is not listening to every Magic lecture. With the Lakers having lost 9 in a row and 6 straight without Lonzo Ball before he came back, you can easily tell the Lakers seem to be having a chemistry issue. Is this directed towards Walton? It could be. It could also be because of all the trade rumors and the powers above being so thirsty for stars. The Lakers are a chaotic mess right now and LaVar Ball didn't help the situation. There are two sides of Laker fans during this right now, the side that thinks LaVar is right and that Luke Walton should be fired for his poor execution coaching the team. There's also that side when many believe LaVar needs to shut his mouth or else Lonzo Ball could be gone just so the distraction of LaVar doesn't linger.
Lonzo Ball just a little while ago took to reporters and addressed the comments his father made toward his coach. Lonzo did not exactly respond in a way that would help Luke Walton's case. "I'll play for anybody." Very bland statement for Lonzo but this is not the only time we have heard Lonzo's displeasure with Luke Walton. A few months ago LaVar had told reporters that Lonzo had told him he is disgusted with Luke Walton for benching him at the start of fourth quarters.
Soon the Lakers will have to make a choice because they cannot allow this to be a continuous issue. They will either have to trade Lonzo Ball just so LaVar can no longer be a distraction to them (trading Lonzo may not be on their agenda) or they will have to fire Luke Walton.
