The Eagles will try and clinch the top seed in the NFC against the Raiders on “Monday Night Football.”

The Philadelphia Eagles and Oakland Raiders will meet on Monday Night Football at 8:30 p.m. ET on ESPN (live stream).

They’re very different teams, late into a season that has been very kind to the Eagles and very rough for the Raiders. Oakland was expected to be among the elite teams this year, while the Eagles were expected to improve while remaining a middling team. Instead, the Raiders are nearly out of playoff contention and the Eagles are dominant.

Oakland isn’t in control of its own destiny. They are 6-8, and on the outside looking in as far as the AFC playoff picture is concerned. They need to win their final two games and they need some other stuff to go right. Quarterback Derek Carr has been average this year, while the rest of the team has struggled around him.

Philadelphia, meanwhile, can clinch the top seed in the NFC with a win on Monday. They have already secured a first-round bye, but have to contend with the Minnesota Vikings for home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

The Eagles are 12-2, coming off a 34-29 win over the New York Giants, a bad team. Before that, they beat the Los Angeles Rams, a good team, 43-35. Their losses his season have come against the Kansas City Chiefs and Seattle Seahawks. Oakland is 6-8, coming off two straight losses to the Chiefs and Cowboys.

• The Raiders got Bruce Irvin and Amari Cooper back at practice on Thursday. The team expects Cooper will return for Monday’s game.
• Oakland has been hit hard by injuries this year. Just this week, they placed two players on injured reserve — Jon Feliciano and Donald Penn — and signed two others. As of Saturday, you can add Clive Walford to the list of players going to injured reserve.
• The final Raiders injury report has David Amerson as doubtful and Mario Edwards Jr. listed as out for Monday’s game.
• Oakland is likely to fire Todd Downing this offseason, while Jack Del Rio, the head coach, is considered a “coin flip,” at least according to recent reports. It’s definitely been a disappointing season for Raiders fans.
• The Eagles could have clinched the top see in the NFC with a Packers upset of the Vikings on Saturday. They didn’t get that, though, so they’ll have to hope for a win to clinch.
• In Philadelphia’s final injury report, they listed Stefen Wisniewski, Jalen Mills and Mychal Kendricks as questionable for Monday’s game.
