Kobe Bryant is running the triangle offense with his daughter’s basketball team

One of the most exciting things about Kobe Bryant’s retirement is how much time he’s spending with his middle daughter, Gianna, and how much basketball they are playing. On Thursday night, he let us know he’s actually coaching his daughter’s basketball team, which is one of the greatest things I’ve ever heard.

Kobe started by making a horrible dad joke saying he was a “duber” driver — an Uber driver that is a dad who only drives his daughters around. But then he got into the stuff we really need to hear. He’s running the triangle offense with 11-year-olds. Yes. That triangle offense.

“We run the triangle offense. It’s awesome. Listen, I sit there with my kids. The girls will go out and I’ll say ‘Okay you’re going against a zone, I need you to crossgrain, wing entry, hit the two pass to the post, bypass first cutter, second cutter, hit the third cutter.’ And they’ll go ... ‘okay.’”

Old triangle and Phil Jackson jokes aside, can you imagine how smart his daughter and her teammates are going to be? She’s only 11 years old and she understands the basic concepts of the triangle.

The also very underrated part of this entire thing is hearing Morgan Freeman talk to Kobe, and then Freeman’s most pure smile every time he looks at him. I would listen to these two talk about literally anything. Please watch the clip again and only pay attention to Morgan Freeman. He’s perfect.

Gianna Bryant is already so good at basketball.

Back to Gianna, the real star here. She has a turnaround jumper with Kobe’s follow through.

And she can clear space like the best of them.

I adore Gianna Bryant and cannot wait to support her basketball endeavors.
