Fantasy implications of Ezekiel Elliott suspension reinstated for Week 10

0

The Cowboys running back is suspended once again. We break down the fantasy football implications.

The Second Circuit has officially denied Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott in his attempt to get an injunction against his six-game suspension. The suspension was stayed for one week last week, but now he will serve the suspension while the legal process continues. He is out from Week 10 to Week 15, barring something unexpected in the appeals process.

Fantasy implications: The Cowboys have plenty of issues without Elliott, and fantasy owners will be without him for most of the rest of the season. Most fantasy playoffs run Weeks 14-16, so you will have to get through the early playoff rounds without him.

In his place, Alfred Morris is likely the first- and second-down back. Darren McFadden will get work on passing downs and some additional rotational work here and there. Rod Smith will also get some rotational work. Morris is the best standard-league option for Week 10, and McFadden has some speculative PPR value. Smith is worth an add if you can’t get Morris or McFadden because he could prove to be the most talented of the trio if he gets an opportunity. You would not want to start him in Week 10, but keep an eye out.
