Tennessee just ran an unbelievably bad goal-to-go drive against Florida
Wyd, Vols?
Even against a stout defense, one would think that points are a near certainty when you’re three feet from the end zone. That is not the case when you’re Tennessee, apparently.
Look upon the glorious affront to decency that is Tennessee’s drive chart after a big pass got them sitting pretty. Let us quickly go play by play through the carnage, with in-depth analysis. Remember that UT RB John Kelly was averaging 6 yards per carry at this point in the game.
The score at the beginning of the drive was Florida 6, Tennessee 3.
1st & goal from UF 1-yard line.
Florida comes up with a big stop.
What’s not pictured? The unsportsmanlike conduct that gives the Vols a new first down. UT RB John Kelly was averaging 6 yards per carry.
1st & goal (again) from UF 1-yard line.
False start on Tennessee, move ‘em back five yards.
1st & goal (one more time) from UF 5-yard line.
Incomplete pass from Quinten Dormady. UT RB John Kelly was averaging 6 yards per carry.
2nd & goal from the UF 5-yard line.
Completion! But this happened (second play in the gif sequence). It was a completion from Dormady to Kelly, but not a handoff. It was a loss of 1 yard.
UT RB John Kelly was averaging 6 yards per carry.
3rd & goal from the UF 6-yard line.

The Vols got the ball in the red zone on their next drive too. They’d miss a field goal. They would get the ball in Florida’s red zone again in the the early fourth quarter. And Dormady would throw a pick-six.
UT RB John Kelly was averaging 6 yards per carry.
