How would Kyrie Irving explain the eclipse if he really believes the Earth is flat?

0

Flat Earth truthers have an explanation for a solar eclipse. Maybe Irving believes this too.

Kyrie Irving is the NBA’s resident flat Earth truther. We discovered this back in March on the Road Trippin’ Pod with Richard Jefferson. He later doubled down on his claims.

“I think people should do their own research, man. Then, hopefully, they’ll either back my belief or throw it in the water, but I think it’s interesting for people to find out on their own. I’ve seen a lot of things that my educational system said was real and turned out to be completely fake. I don’t mind going against the grain in terms of my thoughts and what I believe.”

It got so bad that even science teachers have had a hard time explaining to their students the Earth is round. That’s all thanks to Irving.

So what happens to a flat Earth truther on a day as important as a total solar eclipse? It seems impossible they could continue to defend it, right?

Nope. Flat Earth truthers — and presumably Irving unless he’s trolling — have an answer for that, too. They actually think a total solar eclipse proves their ridiculous theory.

What is a flat Earth truther anyway?

The most popular and basic belief of flat Earth zealots is that the Earth is actually a disc shaped object, and that ... gravity isn’t real. While the Earth is a flat disc, it’s also in a bubble or dome, in which the moon and sun travel back and forth. This is how flat Earth truthers explain sunset and sunrise.

So how does a flat Earth truther explain a solar eclipse?

Flat Earth truthers also believe that the Earth does not rotate. That’s why they say the path of totality moves from west to east. If the Earth was rotating as science suggests, these flat Earthers claim the totality would move from east to west. Here are 23 full minutes on the subject.

The second reason the eclipse proves the flat Earth theory in the mind of these people is the shadow. A shadow is described as “a dark area or shape produced by a body coming between rays of light and a surface.” A flat Earth truther would say that “an object’s shadow can’t be smaller than the object itself,” according to Mic.com

Mic.com also spoke to flat Earth truther who further explained his theory:

“The sun is a light,” Flowers said in a phone interview. “They’re all lights. The sun and the moon are the same size and they spin above us and it’s a battery. It’s a battery system. The moon is the negative and the sun is the positive.”

I’ve never believed the Earth is more round than I did after researching this blog post. Kyrie, if you really believe the Earth is flat, you are crazy.

If you don’t? Look at what you’ve done.
