NBA Schedule Release: Cavaliers 2017-18 regular season schedule released
Whose ready for Cavs basketball to be back?
The Cavaliers’ 2017-18 season has been released in full by the NBA. As announced last week, the Cavs will open the season at home on Tuesday, Oct. 17 against the Celtics.
Cleveland will play 37 times on national TV this year. As for back-to-backs, the Cavs will play 13 in 2017-18 — down from 18 last year and below the league average of 14.4. Overall, the Cavs will play 14 games where they have at least one day off and their opponent will have played the night before. Cleveland also gets eight days off starting Feb. 13 due to the All-Star break.
Aside from the already announced Christmas Day matchup against the Warriors, the Cavs face their three-time Finals opponent at home on Jan. 15. Other notable home matchups include a Jan. 20 game against the Thunder, a Feb. 3 matchup with the Rockets and a Feb. 25 matchup with the Spurs.
As for possible Kyrie Irving return games: the Heat come to Cleveland on Nov. 28, the Suns come to town on March 13 and the Timberwolves come to Quicken Loans Arena on Feb. 7.
The Cavaliers’ longest homestand is from Feb. 25 to March 5, with games against the Spurs, Nets, 76ers, Nuggets and Pistons. The team’s longest trip is when they play eight of nine games on the road from Dec. 25 to Jan. 12; the lone home game in that stretch is Jan. 2 against the Blazers.
Cleveland closes the the season with back-to-back games against the Knicks, the first in New York on April 9 ad the second in Cleveland on April 11.
