Why Lebron (Probably) Won't Sign With The Lakers

0

Don't get your panties in a bind. Don't start Photoshopping a Laker uniform on Lebron just yet. He is a smart businessman and he loves hype. But one thing everyone seems not to take into account is his undying need to be in control over almost everything, and in LA that would be mean he would have to share that power.

The focus on this thought process is based on personality type. I will provide another Laker experience to this effect which I believe would have a similar outcome with different circumstances.

Dwight Howard and Lebron have similar needs and situations. They are physically large men, can push anyone off the court at their choosing, have had political leverage most of their lives, and they want to choose their own destinies. Nothing wrong with that. However, as we saw in the Dwight scenario, he never considered the Lakers as a team he really wanted to commit to which is why he didn't resign. But the other reasons he didn't resign with the Lakers is because of power. Dwight had Kobe to contend with beyond the front office and he was no longer the man. Dwight has never experienced that before and he figured it was best to go to Houston where he could win with good players and it would be his full decision. Well we know why that didn't work out and part of it is the acumen of Dwight's ability to make decisions based on teammates tendencies and why he would get along or not get along with a player. Dwight isn't that bright.

In Lebron's case, he would have to share the LA spotlight with Magic, Kobe, and now a little twerp named Lonzo. Does Lebron know how to share? Really? He's a taker like Kobe. He's an "about me" kind of mindset just like Dwight. If he wants to play, then own, he would find a better fit in Houston and then have the opportunity to buy the team and run it like Jordan and Magic. It seems like a better business decision for someone who is so versed on business decisions as well as basketball ones.

Some people in this life don't understand the idea of sharing. In this particular case sharing would mean, profits, media space, microphones, interviews, decision making, fun, laughing, learning, listening, passion, and friendship. I don't think someone like Lebron really wants to share all that.

Lebron wants everything to himself and that is the reason why he won't decide on LA. I would open Photoshop and undo the Laker uniform and place a Rockets uniform on him instead.

Because sharing is just not his thing.

EDW - Out!
