Willson Contreras leaves game against Giants after a leg injury running to first
The Cubs’ catcher has been on a tear lately, but hurt his leg against the Giants on Wednesday.
Willson Contreras, an important piece of the Cubs’ roster this year, left Chicago’s game against the Giants in the eighth inning after pulling up lame running to first.
As of now, he is still being evaluated. But even a minor hamstring injury could see Contreras out of commission for a few weeks.
He limped off the field with help after reaching first, where he had collapsed once he crossed the base. That’s never something fans want to see, much less with a player who has been such a boon to the team throughout the season.

He was Player of the Week in the National League last week, thanks to a six-game stretch batting .455 with five home runs and 13 RBI.
He’s been on an absolute tear since the All-Star game as well, so any time missed more than a game or two will be bad news for Chicago as it hangs on to its one-game lead over Milwaukee in the NL Central.
