NBA trade rumors: Cavaliers, Spurs have discussed a Danny Green trade, per report
Cleveland and San Antonio have talked about a deal, but the Spurs won’t come cheap.
The Cavaliers and the Spurs have been in talks about a trade involving Danny Green, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst. San Antonio’s asking for a lot, though, and it doesn’t seem like any deal is imminent.
San Antonio might be trying to clear cap space and have also made LaMarcus Aldridge available. If the Spurs can clear enough money to have max free agent space, then there are several point guard prospects that might be attractive options for San Antonio — namely Chris Paul, but also Kyle Lowry and George Hill.
For Cleveland, Green would be another quality 3-and-D player that would add to their depth. It’s not a move that will vault them past Golden State, really the only team that the Cavaliers are truly competing with, but it’s solid depth and would give them a slightly improved version of Iman Shumpert — one who might actually make some jump shots in the Finals!
