United States line up aggressively against Trinidad and Tobago

0

This looks like it could be an all-out attack from the first whistle for the USMNT.

The United States need three points at all costs against Trinidad and Tobago in World Cup qualifying, and by their starting lineup, they’re going to go for broke right from the start.

This formation, featuring each of Clint Dempsey, Darlington Nagbe, and Christian Pulisic, appears to be the same ultra-attacking midfield diamond that they brought out against Honduras earlier in the qualifying round. You know, the game that they won 6-0 to pick up their first points in the Hex. The USMNT will be hoping for similar results this time around, because they need points in a bad way with a match against Mexico at the Estadio Azteca looming.

Of course, Trinidad’s squad isn’t quite the same as Honduras’ — they’re a much quicker team and more lethal on the counter attack than Honduras, and they can definitely take points off the USMNT if things shake out their way in this match, if they can catch the U.S. off guard even once. Every dropped point for the United States could prove to be disastrous for their World Cup dreams, so they have to be at their focused and absolute best if they’re going to get the job done and get the three points they need.
