[Softball] MCU Wins in Opening Round of Softball Tourney

Marymount California, the second seed in the California Pacific Conference Softball Championship, beat #3 seed Benedictine-Mesa 6-3 in the first round of the double elimination tournament in Redding, Calif.  Earlier in the day, top-seeded Simpson downed La Sierra 5-2 in the opening game of the tourney, creating Friday's matchup between the Mariners and the Red Hawks at 12:00 noon.  The loser of that game will play the winner between today's elimination game between LSU and BenU.
