Hall of Fame coach C. Vivian Stringer announces retirement
Hall of Fame basketball coach C. Vivian Stringer announced her retirement on Saturday after 50 years and 1,055 wins.
Stringer, 74, coached at Cheyney State (1971-83) and Iowa (1983-95) before taking the job at Rutgers. She guided the teams to 28 NCAA Tournament berths and took all three programs to the Final Four -- Cheyney State in 1982, Iowa in 1993 and Rutgers in 2000 and 2007.
