But the reason Connor McCaffery is back in the area might surprise those who think of the McCafferys as strictly a basketball family. He's a first baseman and outfielder for the Albany Dutchmen, a summer collegiate team that plays its home games at Siena's Connors Park.
The Dutchmen, a member of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League, open their season at home against Glens Falls on Saturday at 5:05 p.m.
The 6-foot-5 McCaffery is a two-sport athlete at Iowa who also plays guard for his father. He acknowledged baseball is his first love.
