Cup of Coffee: Godbout reaches five times in debut, Bleis hits first Double-A homer

8/7 Cup of Coffee: There were a few notable firsts in the Sox organization last night, as Miguel Bleis (pictured) went deep for the first time in a Sea Dogs uniform. Henry Godbout also had a tremendous game in his first professional game in the Drive's exciting shootout victory. Kristian Campbell also extended his lengthy hitting streak for Worcester.

Cooper Criswell had a bit of a rocky outing after his gem at Fenway Park against the Astros. He surrendered three earned runs on five hits and three walks over four innings of work. He punched out two and allowed one home run. Jovani Moran came on and dealt for two perfect innings, striking out five of the six batters he faced. Brennan Bernardino pitched in his first game with Worcester this season and allowed one run on two hits in one inning to go along with three strikeouts and one walk. Bryan Mata struck out four in 1 2/3 frames, but he also allowed three earned runs on three hits and two walks. Wyatt Olds struck out the only batter he faced. Tyler McDonough had a big night at the plate, going 3 for 4 with a double and a pair of runs scored. Nick Sogard went 1 for 4 with an RBI double, while Jhostynxon Garcia and Kristian Campbell each added an RBI single. Campbell's hitting streak is now up to 15 games. Nate Eaton picked up two knocks as well.

Miguel Bleis crushed his first career Double-A home run, a solo shot to left in the fourth inning. Ahbram Liendo had a perfect night, going 2 for 2 with two singles, a walk, his 31st stolen base, and a run scored. Ronaldo Hernandez was also 2 for 4 with a pair of singles and a run scored. Blake Wehunt only lasted 2/3 of an inning, as he walked two and allowed two runs on two hits in the first inning. Caleb Bolden was solid in 4 2/3 innings of relief, allowing four runs (two earned) on just two hits. He struck out five and only walked one. Jacob Webb fired 1 2/3 shutout innings with two strikeouts and no walks, then Noah Song followed with a scoreless inning of his own with two strikeouts.

Henry Godbout, the Red Sox's 2025 second round pick, made his organizational debut and had a huge game, reaching base five times. The 21-year-old second baseman went 2 for 3 with two singles and three walks, one of which was a based loaded walk to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth inning. Nelly Taylor, who also drew three walks, followed Godbout with a bases loaded walk of his own to win the game for the Drive. Franklin Arias had a big night from the top spot in the order, going 3 for 5 with a double, a walk, and two runs scored. Manuel Medina surrendered four earned runs on five hits through five innings, while striking out four and walking just one. Jonathan Brand was great in 2 2/3 frames, allowing just one unearned run on three hits. He punched out four and did not issue a free pass.

Player of the Day: Henry Godbout is the SoxProspects.com Player of the Day in 100% of his career games. The 75th overall pick in last month's draft reached base in five of his first six plate appearances with the Sox. He was announced as a shortstop by the Red Sox, but he played second base in his first game, which is where he played for a majority of his time with Virginia.
