SHORA keeps the Crown and makes history winning the inaugural WBSC ePremier12
The much-anticipated finals of the first-ever WBSC HUGAN ePremier12 2024 was held in Tokyo Dome in front of sold-out crowd. More than 40,000 fans in the stand witnessed SHORA defeat Dashu, to keep his crown and claim also the title of the ePremier12 champion.
In the match that was displayed on the Tokyo Dome's 125mt wide video board in front of the fans, Shora, scored the first run of the night on a double and a walk in the first inning.
In the second inning he launched anotherwave of offense. However, after a leadoff base hit, the next batter groundedinto double play. With a 1-0 lead to start the third inning, Shora managed toproduce five straight hits after a quick two out to score three times to give hima 4-0 lead.
Facing a four-run deficit, Dashu, made a comeback in the bottom of the third. With a leadoff hit in the third and two consecutive hits after one out, he managed to put two runs on the board, but it would be the last runs to be scored in the inaugural WBSC ePremier12 as SHORA was ultimately crowned as the World Champion.
In addition to the World Championship Game,the third-place game was played by Negrey and BenZen, and Negrey edged BenZen ona1-2 walk-off win for the third place.
The event was graced by the special participation of world baseball legend Ichiro Suzuki who joined WBSC president RIccardo Fraccari at the tournament's opening and awards ceremony.
