[Cross Country] Cross Country Hosts Dean White Invite

Doane Cross Country hosted the Dean White Invitation on Saturday morning in Crete. The Tiger men posted a team victory over Concordia, 25 to 30, as both teams are receiving votes in the NAIA poll that was released this week. The Doane women finished in second place behind Concordia, 35 to 49.

For the men, Sisey Tirop (FR/Eldoret, Kenya) finished 2nd overall with a time of 26:11.51. Thomas Oliver (JR/Lincoln, Neb.) took 4th with a time of 26:58.80. With Concordia taking 1st and 3rd place, the Tigers relied on their final three placers to post the win over the Bulldogs. Luke Bonifas (FR/Hastings, Neb.) finished 5th with a time of 27:06.63 and Jakob Tadlock (SO/La Vista, Neb.) was 6th with a time of 27:14.83. Duncan Blankenship (JR/Rome, Ga.) capped the Top 5 runners with a time of 27:42.93 to place 8th. Doane's team time of 2:15:14 was a mere 15 seconds faster than Concordia's time.

The women were paced by Jaden Hilkemann (SR/Lincoln, Neb.) as she ran a time of 19:55.36 to place 4th. Annika Pingel (SR/Pella, Iowa) was 6th with a time of 20:24.53. Calla Wittland (FR/Bennington, Neb.) added a 10th place finish as she ran a time of 21:04.79. Rachel Walters (SR/Gretna, Neb.) placed 11th with a time of 21:08.73 and Reagan Shoemaker (FR/Hastings, Neb.) finished 20th with a time of 22:12.33.

Doane will have a week off before returning to action when they travel to Sioux Center, Iowa, on October 8 to participate in the Dordt Invite.
