[Men's Basketball] (RV) Threshers pull away in second half in win over Men's Basketball Falcons

North Newton, Kan. – The (RV) Bethel College Threshers used a pair of a game-deciding runs in the second half to break things open and win 94-59 over the Friends University Falcons in KCAC action tonight (Jan. 19) in North Newton, Kan.

The Threshers started quick with a 12-4 run during the game's opening four and a half minutes.

Fresh off of scoring a career-high 33 points in Saturday's (Jan. 15) short-handed setback to Bethany College, Drew Patterson (FR/Charlotte, NC) continued his hot-shooting from the field and scored 16 points in the first half to keep the Falcons in the game. 

With the Thresher lead at nine at the 13:39 mark, a three by Matt Reeves (FR/Mansfield, Texas) and five straight points from Patterson trimmed the edge down to just three at 18-15.

Bethel then managed to create significant separation as consecutive scores by Jalyn Todd ignited an 11-1 spurt that pushed the lead up to 32-18 with 6:32 left until halftime.

It was still a 41-28 deficit late in the half until a pair of treys by Patterson helped the Falcons claw within single-digits at 44-35 heading to the break.

Reeves opened the second half with a layup make it a seven-point game, but 12 straight points by the Threshers resulted in their largest lead to that point of the contest.

The Falcons were teetering down 14 following another three by Reeves when the Threshers used an 11-0 burst to effectively put the game away.

Reeves scored a career-high 22 points and a team-high six rebounds to lead the Falcons and Patterson finished with 20 points. Semaj Edwards (FR/Lanham, Md. ) recorded a career-best four assists for Friends (6-15, 5-10 KCAC).

Jaylon Scott paced four Threshers in double-figure scoring with 27 points along with eight boards and nine assists. Bryant Mocaby scored 19, while Nick Bonner and Adam Gouro each chipped in with 11 points for the Threshers (16-4, 11-3 KCAC).

The Falcons have a bye Saturday and will next be in action at home vs. York College next Monday night (Jan. 24) at 8 pm inside the Garvey Center.
