Morning Briefing: Astros Are Headed Back to the World Series

Good morning, Mets fans!

The Houston Astros have punched their ticket to the fall classic, with a 5-0 win over the Red Sox. Game 6

was all Astros, as Yordan Alvarez drove in the first run of the game and they never gave it back. Luis Garcia pitched the game of his life, tossing 5 2/3 scoreless allowing only two baserunners, while striking out seven. Garcia was throwing harder than ever, as his fastball was averaging around 97 mph, where during the regular season he was averaging 93 mph.

Kyle Tucker put the icing on the cake, by hitting a three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth to make it a 5-0 game. Ryan Pressly closed it out for the Astros, sending them to their third World Series in five years. Alvarez took home the ALCS MVP with a stellar performance, as he hit .522 during the series with one home run and six RBI. His seven hits in the final two games of the series were more than the Red Sox had during that time. The Astros will take on the winner of the NLCS between the Braves and Dodgers.

Game 6 of the NLCS is Saturday, as the Braves host the Dodgers at 5:08 PM EST. Max Scherzer was supposed to get the ball for the Dodgers, but he was scratched with continuing arm fatigue. A replacement has yet to be announced. Ian Anderson toes the rubber for Atlanta, as the Braves hope to be the second team to win the pennant in game six this year.
