[Women's Volleyball] Hawks Complete Season Sweep of TMU on Pink Out Night

EL CAJON, Calif – It took five sets, but the San Diego Christian College Hawks reigned in the Master's Mustangs on Breast Cancer Awareness Pink Out Night at the El Cajon Salvation Army Gym on Friday. The win completed the Hawks season sweep of the Mustangs and elevated their record to 12-6 overall (7-5 GSAC) and dropped TMU to 7-15 (3-9 GSAC).

Ayanna Nunuha got SDCC off to a flying start, by serving seven straight points in an 11-2 run to begin the opening set. TMU was able to draw to within three, making the score 11-15, but multiple kills from Breanna Brooks and Jessica Pinasco put the Hawks on a second run that helped capture the set 25-16.

The Master's looked to take charge of the match, battling back to claim sets two (20-25) and three (23-25). The two teams remained close exchanging kills in the back and forth, but TMU was able to edge out SDCC in each to take a 2-1 lead.

Big kills by Celestina Iupeli and spectacular digs by Kayli Barrera would awaken the crowd and grab the momentum back for San Diego Christian in a runaway 25-16 fourth set. Riding the energy of the big win, the Hawks would claim the fifth set tiebreaker 15-11 and the match 3-2.
