Good morning, Mets fans!

Javier Báez made his Mets debut Saturday, and he hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning. He went 1-for-4 on the night. Báez will be the team’s everyday shortstop until Francisco Lindor comes back from an oblique injury.

The Mets ultimately beat the Reds 5-4 in extra innings on a game-winning hit by Brandon Drury. You can read a recap of the game here.

  • Infielder Javier Baez was activated. He wears No. 23 now.
  • Right-handed pitcher Trevor Williams was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse.
  • Left-handed pitcher Anthony Banda was designated for assignment.
  • Right-handed pitcher Akeem Bostick was assigned outright to Triple-A Syracuse.
