Joey Votto homered twice yesterday, twice the day before, homered on Monday, homered on Sunday, and homered on Saturday, too. It’s the kind of homer spree that cemented the fact that his swing overhaul has catapulted him right back to the upper-echelon of the game’s best hitters, an area he occupied regularly through the first decade of his Hall of Fame career.
He wasn’t done, though. He’s not done. That first sentence of this paragraph shouldn’t have even approached the past tense. Joey Votto, today, is still banging.
He launched a 2-run homer in the Top of the 1st against the Chicago Cubs in the series finale, a titanic 431 foot blast that shot both into the RF seats and into the Cincinnati Reds record books, as the club noted on Twitter.
