The phenom goes deep for the Naturals.

The Royals offense is looking punchless these days, but fans are hoping the minors can provide some help in the near future. Bobby Witt, Jr. is ranked as one of the top prospects in baseball as a five-tool athlete, and he impressed at the Alternate Site and in spring training. But he is still just getting his professional career started playing actual games, having played just 37 games in the Arizona Summer League with one home run in 2019, and no minor league games last year due to the pandemic.

The Royals brought him up to Double-A this year, and he smacked his first big league home run at that level tonight, going deep in the third inning against Tulsa.

Here’s another angle.

Witt also had a single in the first inning. It had been a rough start for Witt at Double-A. Going into the game he was hitting just .167 (4-for-24) with no extra-base hits, two walks, and 10 strikeouts. Hopefully with a multi-hit game and his first home run of the season, the 20-year old infielder can kickstart his season and be up in the big leagues before too long.
