It’s been roughly 36 hours since the SNY broadcast showed Mets players noticing a disturbance in the dugout tunnel, then sprinting down to see what was up.

While we will never know for certain what transpired, if it was an argument, a physical altercation, or a true rat/raccoon/ratcoon sighting, what we do know is that both men involved, Francisco Lindor and Jeff McNeil, are starting to heat up at the dish.

On Friday in the Mets’ extra innings triumph over the Arizona Diamondbacks, Lindor crushed a game-tying, two-run home run to left field on what was a 2-for-5 evening.

Then, McNeil followed it up on Saturday by blasting a two-run home run himself to right center field as part of the Mets’ 4-2 victory over the D’Backs. McNeil scored another run on top of the homer, while Lindor went 2-for-3 and scored a run himself on a heads up throwing error after he stole second base.

With Brandon Nimmo on the injured list, McNeil and Lindor have been not just a double play tandem up the middle, but have been hitting 1-2 in the lineup on a daily basis as well.

Both of these men, when they are on their game, are expected to be table setters for the Mets and big parts of the equation that is the team’s offense.

Perhaps this weekend is a sign of what’s to come for the middle infielders, but regardless, it seems that whatever happened Friday night is in their rear view mirror.

Lindor interrupted McNeil’s post game media availability by giving him a big hug and saying that what they saw in the tunnel was a “ratcoon.”
