The Astros are headed to Colorado to start a two-game series vs. the Rockies on Tuesday, and they could have some reinforcements on the way. The Houston Chronicle’s Chandler Rome reports that Bregman, Alvarez, Martin Maldonado, and Robel Garcia are tentatively expected to rejoin the squad on Tuesday. That said, they will still have to pass some tests before officially being cleared to play. All four players have been out of the lineup since April 13th.
The one notable absence from Rome’s list is Jose Altuve. He was placed on the IL due to COVID-19 at the same time as his teammates, but he will apparently need more time on the sidelines.
The Astros got off to a fast start this season, winning six of their first seven games, but they’ve been in a tailspin recently. They’ve dropped seven of their past eight games, bringing their record to just 7-8 on the season. That puts them in fourth place in the AL West standings, and they’re currently 2.5 games behind the division-leading Mariners. Still, the Astros remain the favorites to win the division at +120 on FanDuel Sportsbook.
