A’s are riding a 6-game winning streak!

The Oakland A’s have won six games in a row! They’re back at the .500 mark and looking to forge their first winning record of the year.

To do that, they’ll need to win a third matchup against the rebuilding Detroit Tigers. Oakland blasted Detroit’s pitching in the series opener on Thursday, and then shut out the Tigers lineup in the second game on Friday, but every day is a new opportunity and the opponent won’t stop clawing for a victory in their third try.

The A’s turn to Cole Irvin to make his third start in a green and gold uniform. The lefty faced the Astros twice and lost both times, which is fair enough, and now he’ll get a chance against a different lineup — and frankly a less scary one than Houston’s juggernaut.

The Tigers call on Casey Mize, the No. 1 overall draft pick from 2018. The righty debuted last summer and got knocked around, but this year he’s allowed just one run in 11 innings during his first two starts combined — including seven shutout against the very Astros thumpers who beat Irvin twice.
