Africa: Nine teams to play in Nigerian Youth U-12, U-15 Girl's Softball National Championships

<p>The Nigeria Baseball and Softball Association (NBSA) recently announced that nine clubs will participate in the country's U-12 and U-15 Girl's Softball National Championships. The national softball championships are scheduled for 20-25 April in Badagry, Lagos. </p>

<p>The youth tournaments will be hosted by Badagry Angels League at Ibereko Barracks, in Badagry, a city just 64 kilometres away from the country’s capital, Lagos City.</p>

<p>“The event will feature nine teams and it will help to hone the skills of budding talents in the game,” said Kehinde Laniyan, NBSA Secretary General. “We are happy to have the competition back and this is one of our major developmental programmes for young players to grow and advance in the sport."</p>

<p>Laniyan added that only players who are between the ages 12 to 15 years of age, respectively, as at April 2021, will be eligible to participate. Room and board will be provided for all registered clubs.</p>

<p>The U-12 event includes the Naowa Hitters, Kwara Sliders, Sabo Wuse, Oluyole Plate Burners, Adekalu Bulls and Badagry Angels. The U-15 tournament will include the Oluyole Plate Burners, Adekalu Bulls and Badagry Angels.</p>

<p>Last year, this event was played in Ibadan, with 11 participating teams from across the country. The event was sponsored by the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos.</p>
