[Softball] Davis Earns KCAC Softball Player of the Week Nod

0 11

WICHITA, Kan. – Friends University junior outfielder Kat Davis has been selected as the KCAC Softball Player of the Week, the league announced today (Apr. 13).

The Falcons have been white-hot recently, and Davis gave the team a bat equally as blistering this past week, hitting a robust .769 along with a double, triple and six RBIs.

The Keller, Texas native also scored six runs to help the Falcons to a perfect 4-0 week and 13 wins in their last 14 games to move into second place in the KCAC at 13-3.

In the second game of a Senior Day sweep of Sterling College, Davis was a perfect 3-of-3 with four runs driven in.

Playing in her final season at Friends, Davis is now second on the team in hitting (.417) and is tied for second in both home runs (six) and RBIs (31). She also ranks within the top 10 in the KCAC in multiple categories, including batting average, home runs, RBIs, doubles (11) and runs (33).

"Kat is seeing the ball well!" said Friends head coach Suzanne Unruh. "She's not chasing that outside pitch which makes the pitcher have to bring it in a little more and Kat has been crushing it. Great week for Kat!"

Davis and the Falcons will look to keep the machine rolling today (Apr. 13) at York College starting at 4 pm in York, Neb.
