After a slight delay, the 2021 New York Mets season is finally underway and we have tons of great multimedia content coming your way here at MetsmerizedOnline!
Here is a summation of everything we have had featured this week, as part of MMO Digital.
Empire State of Mind
This week on the new Empire State of Mind podcast, Lou DiPietro (@LouDiPietroWFAN) from WFAN joined host Zachary Grady to break down the opening weekend of the 2021 MLB Season. Lou also gave an early preview of the Subway Series this year between the Mets and Yankees.
Then former Mets Beat Writer Matt Ehalt (@MattEhalt) joined the show to break down the expectations for the Mets roster this year, what moves may be made in 2021, and the return on the black jerseys. You can listen to episode two of the Empire State of Mind podcast here.
Mets Maniacs
In the first episode of the week, Maniacs Ty Wilkes and Uncle Mike Breznak reviewed the first two games of the season for the Mets. They discuss Jacob deGrom and Marcus Stroman’s gems, bullpen concerns, Dom bombs and Pete Alonso’s more disciplined approach to the plate.
Locked On Mets
The only daily podcast on the New York Mets is hosted by yours truly, Ryan Finkelstein, as I aim to keep you locked in on all things Mets every day.
Monday’s episode was focused on the Mets’ opening day starter Jacob deGrom and his chance to have a remarkable Hall of Fame legacy with the New York Mets. I talked about why the Mets should sign him to whatever contract extension he desires in free agency, as deGrom has the opportunity to put together a truly iconic career.

On Tuesday we had our first game reaction podcast of the season, as I broke down the Mets Opening Day loss to the Philadelphia Phillies. The Mets squandered another great start by their ace, partially due to some questionable managerial decisions that I analyzed on the show.
The following day, I was able to celebrate a Mets victory, after Marcus Stroman helped lead New York past Philly in a dominant performance. But my celebration was short-lived, as the Mets would suffer an embarrassing defeat the next afternoon, getting crushed by the Phillies.
On Thursday, I looked into what went wrong for David Peterson in his season debut and also questioned Jonathan Villar’s ability to contribute to a winning team, instead of being a good stats, bad team guy. Along with breaking down the series loss to the Phillies, I looked ahead to the upcoming three-game set against the Miami Marlins and previewed New York’s home opener.
Finally on Friday’s show, we had a controversial game to break down, after Michael Conforto leaned into a pitch that allowed the Mets to walk-off the Miami Marlins in their home opener.
Still, Taijuan Walker, had strong debut to analyze and I also discussed the three arms Luis Rojas clearly trusts in the Mets bullpen. Finally, I talked about Jeff McNeil’s clutch home run and where he should be batting in the Mets lineup moving forward.
