Mets' Young Roster Ready to Win

With the addition of Francisco Lindor at shortstop, the Mets’ projected starting lineup is taking shape ahead of opening day in April, and the average ages of the young lineup is between 27-28, with the oldest player in the lineup being 30 years old.

The projected starting lineup according to Michael Mayer of Metsmerized and their ages is as follows:

CF – Brandon Nimmo (27)

2B – Jeff McNeil (28)

SS – Francisco Lindor (27)

RF – Michael Conforto (28)

1B – Pete Alonso (26)

LF – Dominic Smith (25)

3B – J.D. Davis (27)

C – James McCann (30)

This young lineup is full of youth and excited to win. With the successful offseason that the organization had to build up the roster, it’s clear that Steve Cohen and the Mets are dedicated to building a winning organization in 2021 and they are projected to do well this season. They all have the same mentality and that is to focus each day on winning. Though they are young, they are also mature and helping the Mets’ younger prospects in camp and taking them under their wing.

In an article on SNY, Mets prospect Khalil Lee called Dom Smith a ‘big brother.’

“Dom is a guy that kinda came in the locker room, talked to me a lot. Seems like he’s gonna be kind of like a big brother to me already,” Lee said.

The Mets are a young team, but they are ready to win in 2021. This will be a lineup and a roster to keep your eye on.
