Wins don’t matter here but let’s get that first one

The Oakland A’s are back for their second day of Cactus League action. They dropped their spring opener to the Dodgers on Sunday, but we got a televised look at lots of A’s prospects.

Now they’ll host the Cincinnati Reds for another seven-inning exhibition contest, and this time we’ll have to settle for the radio broadcast with our team’s legendary announcer crew. Click here to listen online!

Oakland starts the game with Grant Holmes on the mound, the other of their trio of top Triple-A pitching prospects after we saw Daulton Jefferies and James Kaprielian yesterday. Nobody threw more than one inning on Sunday, so presumably we’ll get to see six more relievers again after Holmes works a frame.

First pitch was scheduled for 12:05 p.m. PT. Wins don’t matter in the spring, but wouldn’t it be fun for the A’s to get the first one today anyway?

A’s lineup (home)

  1. 3B Vimael Machin (L)
  2. SS Chad Pinder (R)
  3. 1B Matt Olson (L)
  4. DH Matt Chapman (R)
  5. RF Stephen Piscotty (R)
  6. CF Cody Thomas (L)
  7. C Aramis Garcia (R)
  8. LF Greg Deichmann (L)
  9. 2B Pete Kozma (R)
  • RHP Grant Holmes

Spring debuts for the Matts, and also Piscotty. Good to see Machin getting maximum at-bats in the leadoff spot, as he’s battling for an actual roster spot. Also looking forward to the newcomers Thomas and Garcia, and Top 10 CPL prospect Deichmann.

Reds lineup (away)

  1. SS Jose Garcia (R)
  2. LF Jesse Winker (L)
  3. CF Nick Senzel (R)
  4. 3B Alex Blandino (R)
  5. RF Aristedes Aquino (R)
  6. 2B Dee Strange-Gordon (L)
  7. DH Tyler Naquin (L)
  8. C Tyler Stephenson (R)
  9. 3B Cheslor Cuthbert (R)
  • LHP Brandon Finnegan

Let’s go Oakland!
